Welcome!

I’ve been documenting my creative endeavors since 2014. Thoughts on the creative process, my travels, shows, new ideas and what’s on my easel are just a few things I post on. Feel free to linger…

Two Hours in the Bush...

Tonight I snuck a couple hours in at the easel.  Would rather paint than eat dinner anyhow.  I was able to get some of the foliage in the background better defined and began the shading of those shapes as well as the shadows cast by the suggested light source, obviously the sun.

My cows got more brightening up and the hilly pasture got another layer of color, although to the naked eye, it looks much the same.  To me, looking up close, depth was added even though the color I used to add that depth was extremely similar to what was already there.

Tomorrow is a full studio day after I hit up Michael's again for Green-Gold and some Payne's Gray. I can't believe I'm out again.

Anyhow, here's a photo of the progress I made this evening.  It was very, very dark in the studio tonight, even with some extra lighting.  Tomorrow, in the morning sun, I may find that all the work I did tonight looks like crap, but whatever.  I realize that some artists never have natural light where they work and perhaps I'm just spoiled.

As always, thank you for keeping up with my work.  I imagine it's not terribly exciting watching someone paint at the speed of snail.  But, I'm type A, and like to get it right the first time (whenever possible), which for me is slowly.  But, I promise more color and progress tomorrow.

Anyhow, here you go...bushes in the distance...
