First of all- Hello to my new viewers in London and Northern Ireland!
Today I got a ton done to the tunes of my favorite band's (Brothers Osborne--from Maryland, of course!) new album, "Pawn Shop". There's a duet with Lee Ann Womack in there that's not to be missed.
Despite my kids still home from the abominable snow storm, Jonas, things moved along well artistically today. I had six hours at the easel. The hubby was (finally) present to pinch hit with the kiddos. He's been away almost all of January and I was starting to feel like a single mom (or baby mama?). I thought if he got out of the military (many years ago) that he'd be home more. So much for my estimating skills...
I nearly completed "Sleeping With The Fishes"....all that's left to do is some minor highlighting and then varnishing. I'm really pleased with the progress I was able to make today. You'll see on the photos below that I put another three layers of color on the canvas, then scratched it off in places so that the green-gold color shows through a bit. I like the look and may scratch off a little more before all is said and done. Besides, who doesn't like a good scratch?
In between coats of paint on SWTF, I was able to get some of the foundation /sketching done on "The Vine and The Branches", my next piece, a 30x30 more landscape-y painting. I'm hoping to give it a modern twang but not sure how I'm going to do that yet. Should have some ideas by Monday.
Here are some photos:
Foundation going down on canvas for next painting....
Giving my little fish some love...
Another layer of paint here...
Scraping off color and adding highlights to my bearded sleeping man...
More color (violet mostly) added to the previous layer of titanium white, then blended with a squirty bottle and my fingertips. My techniques sound so sophisticated, no?
I appreciate you plugging along with me. Seeing all the various country code ip addresses on my metrics puts a big goofy grin on my face. Hope you all have a warm, quiet weekend filled with all good stuff!
