Funny how music can change one’s perspective.
Lucinda Williams is one of my favorite songwriters. She’s just so raw and honest. I have to listen to her songs in private due to her language.—not for little ears. But this morning, I had the tunes on during carpool at about 7:30 am and a new Allison Krauss/Robert Plant rendition of “Can’t Let Go” was on the radio. I instantly loved it! It was a little more upbeat and twangy than Lucinda’s version, but I really enjoyed the cover.
Shortly after, I returned home to look up the snappy, twangy tune on Spotify. Sure enough, they were speaking to me. The painting I started last week. It was over. But I couldn’t let go. Until today.
It’s awful to spend hours upon hours and materials on a piece, just to paint over it. But, today I had to do just that. It was not going as well as I’d intended, so I got another idea and went with it. I suspect that was the right things to do. I hope to get more done after replenishing my paint supply and adding in lots of layers, texture, and contrast.
Stop by tomorrow to see what I think will be the finished piece. Then I’m headed to lower Ohio to see a friend for the weekend! So excited! It’s been two years since I’ve seen anyone other than family and I need a hug.
See you tomorrow!
Jen :)
