This past weekend, we finally got two days of spring temps here in northern Michigan. Well, today it’s snowing. Tomorrow may be a snow day as well. So, I thought I’d work on a lighter, brighter piece based on a summer photo of low tide at Blue Hill Harbor, in DownEast, Maine. I’ll be headed there in June for a couple weeks to work on my cottage and spend some time unplugging and decompressing from a whirlwind of a spring that already has me exhausted. Of course, my fatigue is more likely due to weather (read: dark, cold, wet, and dreary!).
I thought I’d get this piece in before starting a new commission that will take up every spare square inch of my studio. That said, I LOVE working big and am really excited about having a modern Farmscape on my easel again! Good thing Santa brought me a heavy duty easel that can support a piece larger than myself….Stay tuned for the sketch and underpainting!
