Welcome!

I’ve been documenting my creative endeavors since 2014. Thoughts on the creative process, my travels, shows, new ideas and what’s on my easel are just a few things I post on. Feel free to linger…

Frank's Farm #9 REDUX

Reminders are a good thing. Because sometimes I think I understand something when indeed I do not. These past few days, I reworked FF#9 to span a horizontal canvas rather than a vertical one. And now that I’ve plugged my nose and painted over what I thought was a really solid sketch and underpainting, I’m glad I need to redo the foundation and fill up the canvas with less sky and more farm. After all, it is a Farmscape, right?

Please excuse the mess! We had 65 people here for a BBQ and 14 family members in the house over the weekend so everything I needed to stow (hide) ended up in my studio…

Luckily, the very patient gal that this painting will be going to sent me a reminder over the weekend that a horizontal piece is what she needs for a lovely spacious wall in her new home.

I’m not going to blame our four kiddos for my absent mindedness but I have three teenagers and one ten year old and school is out. I threw three parties in ten days the past couple weeks and I am beat. Ever cook for 65 people? Me either, until last Sunday night. Wow! Fun time and everyone stayed late, which is a good indicator of something, I think? Good thing my parents were here to help me and my fella. I am a very blessed lady and couldn’t be more content with my lot. But I’m a tired old dog this week…

In other news—It’s time to head to Maine again! Every June I take the kiddos by myself to the cottage for a week or two to unplug. It’s a twenty hour trip, one-way, but a great way to spend time with my babies and see our beautiful country! Last year, our kids got to see the Green Mountain Forest in Vermont and Upstate NY wine country, as we were trying to avoid driving through Boston. It was beautiful but took 24 hours instead of 20 and I was a tired old hag when we finally pulled in to our cottage. Maybe next year we’ll go through Canada….

I plan to have FF#9 completed, dried and shipped by July 15th so stay tuned for updates. While I’m in Maine I may do some watercolor sketches here and there and share them.
