Hello! Snow and Ice here in Traverse City, so tomorrow will likely be the second snow/ice day this week but I am looking forward to having my kiddos around a little more to make me smile.
It’s rather dark today and the lighting in my little studio isn’t ideal, but I laid down another two layers of washes and added some texture to deepen the composition. Below is an updated photo of the progress, which I am 80% happy with. Now that I see it on camera, I think it may be “too cool” and might benefit of warming up a bit. I need to be careful though because at this stage, it is very easy to wreck a good painting with new ideas, before it hits the home stretch….I liken it to writing an entire novel (or novella?) in a couple weeks. Everything is going well, you almost complete the story, then decide to add a new ending. Not a good idea. Same with painting…
Hope you all are enjoying the New Year and thank you to all my visitors. I’d also like to thank Kate and Dan in Denver for adding one of my paintings to their home! Many thanks again and I’m so pleased that you love it!
One more thing! March 3rd is the last day to see my three works on display at Crooked Tree Gallery Petosky!
