Today I had a great morning on-site with Plein Air Painters of Northern Michigan in Leland, Michigan at the historic fishing village called Fishtown. My group was stationed all over the site—Two gals even climbed up on the bathroom building for a better view of the waterwheel, dam and canal. I was right on the sidewalk of the canal and sketched the piece below for the first 90 minutes then painted with watercolors and a VERY limited pallets of three colors: black, white, and a deep phalo green/blue for the second 90 minutes.
It doesn’t look like something I’d paint given its degree of restraint but I’m really happy with it!
Here’s a photo of the site in the evening….
