Fun day here with our twelve year old next to me, crafting his own art!
It’s hot here! Geez! I was sitting on the floor to stay cool. It may be part hot flashes, part excitement over this new abstract in a series I started almost a decade ago but could never really capture again. Getting colors and textures right is hard, particularly when many of my favorite paints have since been discontinued. Very frustrating. But last week, I sat at my worktable, mixing colors for an hour before settling on some that are pretty darn close, maybe even close enough.
Estuaries, my first piece bearing that name, made the cut for the prestigious North American Show, Strokes of Genius. The juror was from The Corcoran. That was a highlight of my life!
My little guy got a shot of me on the floor and the other is a very early in process photo of Estuaries No. 02.
I’ll get more done this week and hope to be done by Wednesday!
I’d like to think that the studios in magazines look authentic but the truth is, studios are generally a mess if they get a lot of use. But given I share mine with my two painter kiddos, I don’t think it’s a messy as it could/should be….
