Just completed on May 1st, this piece is a fresh new take on modern farmhouse style. Abstract with storylines, a narrative of the future of a traditional farm when the patriarch dies. Inspired by our neighbor in Northern Michigan, Frank, who was at first, a very stiff, very Catholic, Dutchman, but turned into the most wonderful, generous neighbor we could have hoped to ever have. Frank joined the love of his life in the heavenlies, and his once-pristine farm began to decay, until his young grandson and new wife took over last year, incrementally breathing new life into the place.

This is something I didn’t expect to happen on my easel this week…

I painted this fifteen years ago in a little (shabby) apartment in East Lansing, Michigan, while my husband was working on his MBA and I was just starting to feel comfortable at the easel.

Over the years it has been in galleries (particularly in one across from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Galleria, Cleveland.

Ruby is our younger daughter. I painted this after watching her nap in a chair with her legs dangling over the arm. She was four at the time, and now she’s nearly twelve.

This piece is for her so not for sale, but I can create a piece in the same style with a photo for commissions. A 24x24” would be $850, with 30% down. I also have payment plans as low as $100 per month until a piece is paid off. I’ve purchased art and textiles for myself this way many times.

I donated this piece to the Collector's Choice event through the Maryland Federation of Art, so it has a new home!  Please contact me for prints or similar work to commission.  I do not create like pieces, however, I will work in the same style and subject.  Price is based on desired size of canvas.  I also work on paper from time to time.  Contact me via email for more info.

I painted this for a city-themed show in Annapolis.  It is the companion piece to "Mercury Ville" which has a new home.

This is a very linear piece and a departure from my loose brushwork...more like a hyper controlled acrylic and ink sketch.  It is very much based on a photo I took in Bangkok at a Metro station.  The city has such electricity....I though the abstract lines outlining the buildings captured that...

A study of a birch grove photo I took while in Northern Michigan in 2013.  I've always had an odd birch fettish, and this was my first attempt at capturing the textured bark on canvas.
