Welcome!

I’ve been documenting my creative endeavors since 2014. Thoughts on the creative process, my travels, shows, new ideas and what’s on my easel are just a few things I post on. Feel free to linger…

New Materials...

Clamdigger is being benched for the moment.  He's just not working the way I'd like him to.  However, a new show is coming up entitled "Works on Paper" and yesterday I ordered three new items to try out and submit for the Works on Paper show.

It's a great time to be an artist.  Many of us are plugged into each other's journeys through the internet.  I've been able to meet folks like myself and bounce ideas and jpgs off of friends who might give me an objective opinion, you know, am I on to something or just delusional?

I think I mentioned that I picked up three new books about a week ago.  My favorite of the three is by Carol Marine.  She founded the Daily Painters website and has been painting small works for many years and consequently honing her craft to become one of the most successful small works painters on the internet.  The most exciting part of the book (technique and composition advice aside) is that it seems I've been collecting some collectable artists over the years.  Five or six of the smaller works painters featured in Carol's book are being featured on my "inspiration wall" in my studio.  Sure is nice to know that I have stellar taste. :)

So, the next piece up will most likely be a three piece work, or a triptych.  It is on a new material called cava-paper, that is 100% cotton paper.  I can't wait to see how the paint and ink takes to it!  I purchased (3) 16x 20, and plan to under paint with a brayer for texture, and maybe a portrait of some sort.  I'm still a little giddy about making the Winter Members Show at Maryland Federation of Art, so I suppose I'm feeling more confident after boogering up Clamdigger.  It is possible that he might come back from the dead, but not likely.

My materials are slated to arrive tomorrow.  Will snap some shots as I go along...

Thank you for reading along...
