The worst part of being married to my husband is that he is keenly aware of how right he is on any number of issues....but today he surprised me with an exceedingly insightful comment on "No. 2", the painting that I thought was done. He took one look at it hanging on the wall, getting photographed, and simply said, "It needs more on the track".
More what? I don't remember him ever being interested in my paint slinging prior, but since painting in a more realistic manner, he's getting more of an opinion about such things. Now if I can just figure out if I indeed want his opinion...Hmmm....
The fact is that he was right. After going over the painting again, I added more dirt and mud at the bottom of the canvas, and sure enough, it achieved a higher level of balance on the piece. Ugh. Just one more thing he's been right about. It's irritating.
So...here's the finished painting, an acrylic/graphite piece. I was going to erase my graphite drawing underneath, but then decided to to keep it. I like the faint lines kind of outlining my subjects.
Not sure what happened with my camera here but the photo shows the image as less crisp than in person....so see below for a more detailed photo that is more accurate, but is not the entire image.

This is the third painting in my "Preakness" series completed this past month. I'd like to do two more before the Triple Crown is complete, but they will be considerably smaller.
