Hello Manila!
Hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving Holiday. For those of you outside of North America, it's a holiday when we set aside an entire day to give thanks, reflect on our blessings, and remember the plight of the first Pilgrims to what is now the good 'ole U.S.A. Then we indulge in a meat coma after heartfelt praise to our God who continues to provide grace and love upon our household....
Of course, this year, I crafted my own infused Calamondin vodka and boy was I even more thankful after partaking! Giggles all around, I say! Thank the Lord for spirits!
This year has been a bit of a whirlwind. I've been juggling a dozen hats at once and doing a not-so-great job of it. In 2017 I hope to focus better, but with everything on my plate right now, I'd be happy just to get a day off in January!
I've got some little diddies for you to see today. Not paintings, but pillows. I think I mentioned that Fra Angelica, a fiber gallery in the Historic 5th Street Arcades in downtown Cleveland, bought my entire fall collection of wearable art in October. Maybe I forgot. Anyhow, I've missed sewing, so the little Maine Cottage project I'm working on has allowed me the opportunity to create some textiles to enliven a sleepy little 700 sf 1900's farm house that will soon be a Homeaway.com/AirBNB rental.
Here's a little sample of what I'm doing:
I thought since the cottage is from 1900 that an early American print backdrop might be appropriate. To that, I'm adding felted wool in bold hues in a piece-y composition that looks abstract from afar. I've been hand-stitching the wool on with clear nylon thread, which is really much harder to work with because I CAN'T SEE IT! Ugh. It seemed like a good idea at first....
There are three wall-art shows in Annapolis that I've recently submitted for. Will update you on those as I hear back. Wish me luck!
Coming in the near future to a blog near you....more pillows. I know, not as sexy as paintings, but I'm fresh out of sexy this time of year....
Stop back soon!
