My husband is tired of me painting on the kitchen table. Every since I got cozy with a drippy paint method, I've been unintentionally dying the top of our lovely wedding gift from aunt Barb (sorry aunt Barb!). What used to be a sort of cinnamon/mahogany hue is now a close cousin to phalo green. Oops.
So, I decided to try and drip paint on my studio floor. This is much more taxing on the legs and back as I am hunched over for hours at a time rather than very comfortably at the kitchen table where my work is about three feet off the ground and I can tumble washes over my canvas with very little effort whatsoever. I would keep complaining, but there is no way he's going to read this post so I may as well stop whining.
Anyhow- I have some in-process photos from my studio downstairs. I'm working on the 30x40 that I prepped with interior house paint. My intent is to have a resist effect when I put the waterlogged acrylics down on top. We'll see, I suppose.
I have a ton more to do on this piece, but hope to have the foundation complete by tonight then get to work on the layering early this week.
Ok, fine, I'll tell you where I got the composition. Custer State Park, South Dakota. We went on a road trip out there a few weeks ago and I was smitten by the landscapes I saw there, Mt. Rushmore, and what turned out to be the second best parT of the trip, moving slowly through Custer State Park in the pick up and coming face to face with wild Bison there. It was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had with wildlife. Even better than snorkeling in the Indian Ocean...
Thank you for stopping by! Come back soon?
