Welcome!

I’ve been documenting my creative endeavors since 2014. Thoughts on the creative process, my travels, shows, new ideas and what’s on my easel are just a few things I post on. Feel free to linger…

(Not) A Little Reworking Today...

"The Bathers" got a little drama today (and I decided to forgo the sideboob, as much as I liked it...).  You can see in the photo above, I filled in a little flesh with the lilac.  In the photo below you can see after corrections were finished up and some Payne's Grey was added to the lilac to tone it down a little and add more contrast and texture.

I had lots of time in the sunny kitchen today and three pieces spread out on both my kitchen island and the kitchen table.  I'm determined to have my pieces go well together, complement each other and such.  But, I had no idea the extent of the use of lilac (a color I mixed once but I made enough that first try to use on four pieces so far).  Until this past few weeks, I didn't even know that I liked lilac.  And it seems that I do.  Very much.

"The Bathers" will be wholly complete tomorrow.  I just need to retouch a place or two with paint, smooth out some charcoal, then apply a fixative to keep the charcoal from rubbing off...

I (again) reworked Kiawah Waterway...this time due to some snide remarks by my dude.  Only God knows why I ask his opinion as we have zero in common tastes regarding art.  But, I think his comments were honest, despite them being a little too unfiltered for my professional comfort level (or I was just being overly sensitive which is also a distinct possibility).

Here's what's almost done.  I have seven week til the work for my twelve foot wall at Circle Gallery needs to be hung. That show, Melange I will be up for two weeks, until March 10, 2018.

I'll have more for you tomorrow, including underpainting and a sketch for "Eagle Pond" another decent sized piece for the same show.

A hearty hello to Amsterdam, Detroit, St. Louis, Elkridge, Southeast PA, Texas, and the French Alps!

Happy Friday! (and of course, some new work....)

Sand Beach, Acadia. DONE!
