Welcome!

I’ve been documenting my creative endeavors since 2014. Thoughts on the creative process, my travels, shows, new ideas and what’s on my easel are just a few things I post on. Feel free to linger…

Finding inspiration in an rodent.

“Raccoon Fur” on an adorable cottage that inspired a new piece (below).

I was flipping through my new Country Living magazine yesterday afternoon with a cup of tea, enjoying the winding-down of my day before starting dinner for six. About two minutes into the magazine, I found this piece on outdoor dining and was instantly smitten with the cottage in the photo. It wasn’t that the cottage was any cuter than the rest in this article, it was the hue on the bard and batten siding that really caught my eye. So much so, that it inspired my new painting below.

I realize that my painting looks nothing like the cottage above, but I can’t help how my brain works. I’m not sure what the finished piece will look like, but I love the “Raccoon Fur” color by Benjamin Moore that is featured on the siding of that cottage. We have board and batten siding on our own home and I’m quite tempted to give our house a quarantine make over…Like many others, having a little more time at home has vastly improved the spaces we live in. I’m hoping to clean up my studio tomorrow afternoon, and our teenagers assisted me in moving the living room furniture around last week. It’s funny that it took ten years of being here to figure out what that room shoulda looked like all along…

This 16x20 piece will never truly mirror the cottage in the photo, however, it will feature a similar palette (which you can start to see above) and have some linear qualities to it. You’ll have to stop back later in the week to see some progress…

Also- some bad news. I’m an idiot.

At 46, my body cannot keep up with what my brain wants to do and I boogered up my left shoulder (I’m a lefty) playing volleyball, the sport I played in high school then college and years following. I'm having shoulder surgery next Friday, so I won’t be able to paint for six weeks or more. On a positive note, I have a 16 year old who can cart me around to PT so I should be back to posting soon. If there is a piece you are eyeballing, I’d encourage you to contact me soon! I may consider offers if you ask nicely!

Blessings and health to you all, and thank you for all the visits to my site!
