What a weekend! We had Thanksgiving at home and it was snowing! Magical! We picked out our Christmas tree the evening before Thanksgiving and got a BEAUTY OF A TREE! Thank you Robinson Family Farm in Traverse City!
I’ve reworked this piece so many times and today realized that I was simply overthinking what should be a very simplistic, straightforward seascape. Quite honestly, it was starting to look like a mass produced piece of art, not something a little quirky, which is my preferred approach to all thinks in this life.
So, I covered the whole thing in magenta (heavy) and then began to take away that magenta with a baby wipe and a palette knife. Yes, baby wipes! They are a lifesaver and (aside from paint, brushes and water) are an essential tool in the old toolbox. What can’t you do with a baby wipe? Nothing. I also detail my car with them, wash my face with them, dust the baseboards, polish the table, deep clean the fridge, etc.
Hope this piece makes you smile. It is for sale and right now for $275, my most affordable original piece for as it is a study (art-speak for tooling around with art supplies and having a good time doing it).
Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for stopping by today!
