It’s finally Saturday after a long week of busy days and strange weather. On Thursday, it was 66 degrees here mid-morning, then below freezing by 4pm. I have never seen such a drastic weather pattern up here on the Fresh Coast. Winds were almost 60 mph and schools were closed for two days due to power outages. We were blessed to be spared from all but a few downed trees at our camp where my fella harvests winter bounties of fur and feathers.
My boys are all at hockey games this morning and it was quiet in the house, so I went in to take inventory of my painting supplies as there is an Artist Guild Member Show at Crooked Tree Gallery in Traverse City in January, in which I plan to create three new pieces for. I do have some newer work to use but it’s all too big. Maximum size for this upcoming show is 36” in any direction.
In my little three tiered paint caddy, I found an almost used up/dried out jar of heavy molding gel and decided to use the rest of it before it officially dies. I also had some paper nearby and decided to rework a painting that I simply wasn’t happy with rather than head out into the snow to purchase another canvas.
Below is what I have so far for you on this piece. I really got into the circles before realizing that the composition somewhat resembles an arial view a group of ice fishing spots on a nearby lake (Lake Leelenau or Cedar Lake, perhaps?). I have no idea what this piece might morph into, but really like the texture and monochromatic hues.
Also- I’s Christmas season, and I forgot to post about a winter discount. If you are interested in purchasing a piece from my site, I’m offering 20% off now through January with the code: FRIENDS/FAMILY on my Works for Sale page.
Only one week til Santa comes!!!! Woohoo!!!!
