Good morning and Happy Saturday. I’ve been working on some smaller works in recent weeks and finally got back to this rather large piece that’s been on my easel for nearly a month.
It’s inspired by the West Bay of Lake Michigan. We spent almost all day on July 4th swimming, eating, and watching the Thunderbirds! Wow! I never tire of that! Next year The Blue Angels will be back.
True story, I met a rather big and pretty Blue Angel at what used to be Griffins (1999) in Annapolis Harbor, while supporting a good friend playing there that night. I guess the bar was quiet that night and short on girls. So, we ended up talking for two hours about all kinds of goofy things. Really fun time. He asked for my number so we could go out when he’d be back in a month. I said yes, of course, then helped my buddy pack up his drums and headed out.
Sure enough, he called a month later but by then, I’d accidentally met Jeff and wasn’t interested in anyone but him from then on. Jeff isn’t as big or pretty but he’s a solid dude and I knew it immediately. He also happens to have the most impressive encephalons I’d ever encountered. So, there you go. Brains matter. 24 years later, his brains are still a major attraction….
Anyhow (sorry for the rabbit hole), here’s what I’m working on:
